Emergency lighting only counts if it works on the day it is needed, and the law expects you to prove it. We run the planned testing schedule for your premises and keep the log book and certificates in order.

How often does emergency lighting need testing?
A short function test regularly through the year and a full duration test annually is the standard pattern, with the exact schedule set by the standard and your risk assessment. We put your premises on the schedule and keep it there.
What happens during the annual duration test?
The lighting runs on battery for its full rated duration, usually three hours, and every fitting is checked for output at the end. Batteries that cannot last the duration get flagged, because they are the ones that fail in a real evacuation.
Does testing disrupt the premises?
Barely. Function tests are quick, and duration tests are timed so the batteries recharge before the premises rely on them, typically ending the working day or over a quiet period.
We have no records of any testing. Where do we start?
With a survey and a first full test, which together tell you what is up there and what state it is in. From that day forward the log book exists and the schedule runs.
Can you test emergency lighting you did not install?
Yes. Most of the testing we take on was installed by someone else. The first visit maps the installation, and after that it is a known quantity.
What if fittings fail the test?
You get a clear list of what failed and why, with a price to put it right. Failures are usually batteries or individual fittings, and most get fixed on the same visit or the next one.
