Is emergency lighting a legal requirement?
For virtually all commercial premises and communal residential areas, yes. The fire risk assessment drives what is required, and the installation standard is BS 5266. We install to it and hand over the certification that proves it.
How do we know if our current emergency lighting is adequate?
A survey against the current standard answers it quickly: coverage, positioning, signage and the state of the fittings and batteries. It is often eye-opening, and it turns a vague worry into a costed list.
Can it be installed without disrupting the business?
Yes. Emergency fittings go in area by area like any lighting work, out of hours where needed, and the best moment is during a wider lighting upgrade while the access equipment is already up.
Do you install self-test fittings?
Where they earn their keep, yes. Self-test fittings run their own function checks and flag failures, which cuts the manual testing burden on larger sites.
What paperwork do we get?
Design records, the completion certificate and a log book ready for the ongoing testing your premises must keep. Your fire risk assessor and insurer both know what to ask for, and this is it.
Can you take on the ongoing testing as well?
Yes. Our emergency lighting testing service keeps the installation compliant after we hand it over, on a planned schedule with the paperwork maintained.
